Saudi AI Curriculum to Launch Nationwide in 2025-2026 Academic Year

Saudi Arabia is set to roll out a comprehensive artificial intelligence curriculum across all levels of public education beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year, marking a major milestone in the Kingdom’s push toward global AI leadership.

The initiative is led by the National Curriculum Center, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA). It supports the goals of the Human Capability Development Program, a key pillar of Saudi Vision 2030, by embedding future-ready digital and analytical skills into the national education framework.

AI Education for All Grade Levels

Starting this academic year, students from elementary through high school will begin learning AI concepts through structured, age-appropriate modules. The curriculum is designed to evolve across grade levels, ensuring progressive skill development and continuity. It includes interactive and hands-on learning experiences, aimed at helping students engage with emerging technologies and apply their knowledge to real-world challenges.

This marks the first time AI education will be delivered at scale across the entire public school system in Saudi Arabia, positioning Saudi AI as a foundational element of national education.

Curriculum Builds on High School Pilot Course

The nationwide rollout follows the successful launch of “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence”, a foundational course introduced earlier in 2025 for third-year high school students in the general track. Developed jointly by SDAIA, the National Curriculum Center, and the Ministry of Education, the course served as a pilot phase for broader curriculum integration.

The new curriculum builds on this foundation, expanding AI learning to younger students and aligning content across grade levels to support long-term skill acquisition and student evaluation.

Vision 2030 and Human Capability Development

The AI curriculum is a strategic component of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to enhance human capital under Vision 2030. By introducing AI education early, the Kingdom aims to empower students to become contributors to innovation and digital transformation. The program is designed not only to inform students about AI but to prepare them to shape its future.

Through this initiative, Saudi AI leadership is being cultivated from the classroom up—ensuring that the next generation is equipped to navigate and influence the evolving technological landscape.

What’s Driving Saudi Arabia’s Massive AI Push?

Why Saudi Arabia is Investing $100 Billion in AI

Saudi Arabia’s nationwide AI curriculum rollout is part of a much larger strategic push. The Kingdom has committed over $100 billion to artificial intelligence, positioning it as a cornerstone of its future economy. This investment isn’t just about funding cutting-edge technologies—it’s about building sovereign infrastructure, fostering localized innovation, and securing global partnerships.

Key drivers include $3 billion already invested in AI infrastructure, a surge in Saudi-led data center projects with over two gigawatts of capacity in development, and long-term funding commitments from the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which is projected to reach $2 trillion by 2030. Together, these moves signal that AI is not an emerging sector—it’s a national priority, deeply embedded in Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification strategy under Vision 2030.
